Developed by Südwind, suitable for children from 6 to 10 years
The Austrian NGO Südwind now published a map for primary school teachers, including 5 educational materials on PLASTIC, WOOD and PAPER, TOMATOES, COWS and THE WORLD OF GAMES. All the materials were developed within the „GLOBAL SCHOOLS Project“ and are now available in a practical map.
The material on PLASTIC includes teaching units on:
- How plastic is produced (with the example of rubber ducks)
- How different materials rot and why plastic nearly doesn't rot
- What kind of food packages are more or less sustainable
The material „From Wood to Paper“ includes teaching units on:
- Insights from a paper-factory
- How dung is converted to paper
- Paper-detectives: consumption and use of paper
The material “COOL COWS” includes teaching units on:
- The importance of traditional “cattle breeds” addressed with a “cow-domino” (biodiversity)
- How to make butter?
- Living conditions of cattle around the world (India, Austria and Sudan)
- Interconnectedness between meat consumption and the clearing of the rain forest
The material „Colourful World of Tomatoes“ includes teaching units on:
- Tomatoe-Quiz and unknown kinds of tomatoes
- Where do vegetables come from in winter?
- All about ketchup and how to make ketchup on your own…
